Singer Sithara Krishnakumar's band Project Malabaricus has joined pride month celebrations with their new single Mohabbat - Love With Pride. With Tamil lyrics, it's a re-envisioning of their Malayalam pride song which has been performed on numerous stages.
"While we are saying the same thing, it's not a translation. I shared my idea with SangeethRavindran, our lyricist, and he wrote it based on that.We also use Malayalam slogans in between, which were written by BK Harinarayanan. He wrote the lyrics of the Malayalam pride song and I only shared the tune with Sangeeth, not even the Malayalam lyrics," says Sithara.
The video was created with AI technology and was shot as a band performance. Srinath Nair, Liboy Praisly Kripesh, Vijo Job, Ajay Krishnan and Midhun Paul perform with Sithara to deliver this single. The video was directed by Sumesh Lal. The track was mixed by Sreejesh Nair. The band also has plans to release more of their tracks, which are now performed live.
"We didn't plan a video at first. But, we felt that these lyrics should be seen and planned a lyrical video and later decided to shoot it in the current form. Many people gave us positive feedback about it," adds Sithara.
Compassion, love and pride There was some criticisms, but very few, and this was about the theme rather than the music. We judge people with our standards. Here, we are talking about being compassionate and living with pride, without prejudice. We hope people who have not seriously considered the subject before will do so. We feel youngsters are more open-minded. - Sithara
