Project Malabaricus, touted as one of the latest breakout bands from South India, backs multi-faceted Sithara Krishnakumar on studio and live recordings. Formed in 2017, the band entered the independent music scene through the coveted music show "Music Mojo" aired on Kappa TV. Since then, they have carved an enviable niche for themselves with celebrated stage performances, iconic independent releases and digital hits running into millions. Along with Sithara Krishnakumar, the band features some stellar musicians such as the dynamic Liboy Praisly on rhythm guitar, Ajay Krishnan on bass guitar and Vijo Job on lead guitar, the spirited Midhun Paul on drums and the very versatile keyboardist/vocalist Srinath Nair.
With an earthy flavour to the tones, the band seamlessly blends traditional soundscapes with modern and contemporary music. The band also explores various pertinent narratives such as that of women empowerment, Malabar folklore, environmental conservation, human resilience and cultural diversity through their music.
The band's maiden album Rithu, the first Dolby Atmos release in Malayalam which featured the songs "Rithu", "Arutharuthe" and "Pilleranu" was a critically acclaimed hit and their other compositions such as "Chaayappattu" and "Poomathe" also has a dedicated fan base.
The band has gone on to perform for various prestigious shows in India and across the world such as Urdu Festival, Red FM - South Side Story, Indiegaga Music Festival and Expo 2020 Dubai to name a few.
